Delfin Lend Lease’s Lakeside Pakenham community has taken out the coveted Best Masterplanned Development title at the 2008 UDIA State Awards for Excellence.

The community outshone 5 other entries to take out the award.

Lakeside Pakenham project director Sharon Coates said the achievement was the result of careful planning and design from a dedicated team .

“From Lakeside Pakenham’s inception it was Delfin Lend Lease’s vision to create a special place that connected a community, and set new benchmarks in technology, services and environmental sustainability ,” Ms Coates said.

“The overall key to the success of Lakeside Pakenham has been an ongoing emphasis on understanding the needs of our residents, businesses and prospective buyers.

“We are proud to have created a community which has set new industry benchmarks and most importantly is a special place for our residents to call home.”

Awarded by the Urban Development Institute of Australia, the nation’s peak representative body for all segments of the urban development industry, the award is the highest honour in development.

Lakeside Pakenham is located 55 kilometres southeast of Melbourne on the Princes Highway. It features 36 heactares of open space including recreational space, formal gardens, a 6.5 hectare lake, a one-kilometre cultural trail, parklands, creek reserves and environmental waterways.

Lakeside Pakenham is being developed by Delfin Lend Lease, Australia’s largest developer of masterplanned communities, with 25 projects nationally.
