Caroline Springs Kids Help Build Community Safety Net
Remote control police cars, a flashing fire engine and earth-moving equipment will be turning young heads this Tuesday as part of the Caroline Springs Schools Safety Day.

Bringing together over 250 preparatory school-aged children from the local area, the Schools Safety Day is a joint project between Delfin and Bovis Lend Lease and forms part of the community’s celebrations for Community Safety Month (October 2004).

From 1pm to 3pm on October 26, the Brookside Sporting Ovals Car Park will be taken over with interactive information displays from Victoria Police, Country Fire Authority, State Emergency Services, St John’s Ambulance, Sunsmart and Worksafe.

Students from Christ the Priest Primary School, Mowbray College, and Caroline Springs College will be involved in the event.

Caroline Springs Project Director Martin Gaedke said Delfin was working on introducing an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) theme to the local school community as part of its ongoing commitment to safety.

“The Incident and Injury Free philosophy encompasses all aspects of daily life to help ensure a safe environment for individuals and families,” he said.

“The Caroline Springs Schools Safety Day will allow the subject of safety to be discussed and demonstrated in a fun learning atmosphere which hopefully will prevent future tragedies.”
