The annual Grand Masters Awards are held in different regions across the country to recognise and reward excellence in building standards in the previous 12 months. The awards are open to some 200 builders in more than 20 Delfin Lend Lease projects across Australia.
Springfield Lakes Project Director Marc Wilkinson said he extended special congratulations to the winning builders, but wanted to thank all of Springfield Lakes’ builders for their tremendous work in the past 12 months.
“Springfield Lakes continues to be Australia’s most popular residential community,” said Mr Wilkinson.
“The last 12 months have been particularly exciting for our builders with the construction and opening of Queensland’s largest display home village, the Springfield Lakes Home Buyer Centre in February 2004.
“The Home Buyer Centre has been a big success and I thank our builders for their tireless efforts in helping us create a display home village and residential community that everyone can be proud of,” he said.
Delfin Lend Lease Chief Operating Officer David Keir said the 2004 Grand Masters Awards attracted the highest number of entries in its 5 year history with 144 builders from four regions – South East Queensland, North Australia, Victoria and South Australia participating.
“The Grand Masters Awards continue to grow in popularity because they encourage builders to raise the benchmark form industry standards and customer satisfaction, addressing important industry issues such as affordability and sustainability,” said Mr Keir.
“Last year we redesigned the awards program to promote value for money home design and sustainable housing principles by introducing new judging criteria directly relating to a home’s affordability and sustainability.
“Under the “Sustainability” criteria judges consider how builders have used environmental, technological and money-saving inclusions when designing and landscaping their homes.
“The 2004 Springfield Lakes national and regional award winners rated well in both criteria.
“Each year our judges are amazed by the flexibility of design, energy efficiency and lifestyle features evident in the Grand Masters Awards entries.
“Not only are such exceptional features driving building industry standards skyward, but ultimately, improvements in home design and workmanship mean a happier customer.
“Delfin Lend Lease strives to create places where people want to live work and play and our builders are vital to the success of our communities. We our proud to recognise their achievements through the Grand Masters Awards,” he said.
One of the national judges of the 2004 Grand Masters Awards, Wayne Gersbach, Executive Director of Planning & Environment, Housing Industry Association said Civic Steel’s “Eclipse” was ahead of the pack because of its Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) inclusions.
“The use of materials and skillion roof also provided a clear point of difference and the open plan design suited the sub tropical South East Queensland climate,” said Mr Gersbach.
To be eligible for judging homes must have been completed by June 30. The award winners were judged on street appeal, design and liveability, sustainability, marketing, quality finish and workmanship and value for money.
Grands Masters Awards are judged on a regional basis first, with the four most outstanding regional entries, the Premier Award winners, eligible for judging at a national level.
The South East Queensland judges were Jeff Sommerfeld, Property Editor of The Courier-Mail and Rick Wiley, Executive Director – Queensland Housing Industry Association.media
