HIA and Delfin Lend Lease Sign Agreement
Thousands of builders and contractors across Australia will receive specialised training in a new environmental health and safety system as part of a national initiative launched by Delfin Lend Lease and HIA today.
Australia’s largest developer of master-planned communities Delfin Lend Lease today signed a memorandum of understanding with the Housing Industry Association, who will roll out the training in what is believed to be the first alliance of its kind in the industry.
The national program will ensure that home building workers on Delfin Lend Lease’s 20 projects maintain the highest standards of work-site safety and management of the local environment during construction.
Lend Lease Communities CEO Rod Fehring said the watershed agreement to roll out the “Environmental Health and Safety Management System” with the industry’s representative body showed their commitment to the broader Incident and Injury Free policy adopted by all Lend Lease companies.
“This agreement cements our commitment to ensuring that anyone working on Delfin Lend Lease sites is not only properly protected but that they are also fully trained the highest standards of environmental practices and workplace health and safety,” he said.
“Each year, we work with more than 200 building partners who construct homes, commercial developments and educational facilities on our projects. We want to continue to provide them with the best working environment possible.
“This follows the great success of working with the HIA in establishing ‘Greensmart’ display villages at our Sydney and Brisbane projects which showcase environmentally sustainable house designs.”
HIA Managing Director Dr Ron Silberberg said HIA would create the new management system, which would include training programs for contractors, as part of a broad partnership with Delfin Lend Lease which would also include working on job creating and training initiatives on some developments.
“We will create management systems and training programs that will be tailored to each of Delfin Lend Lease’s projects, and then deliver the training to home builders and their contractors working on-site,” Dr Silberberg said.
“The partnership with Delfin Lend Lease will ensure that there is a nationally consistent approach to environmental health and safety for one of the country’s largest developers,” he said.
“We commend Delfin Lend Lease for showing such strong commitment to home builders and their contractors.”
Delfin Lend Lease is Australia’s leading developer of master-planned communities, with more than 20 projects across Sydney, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, North Queensland, Melbourne, Darwin and Adelaide.media
