Construction starts on Adelaide’s newest display village
The foundations of the first homes at northern Adelaide’s Blakes Crossing community are being laid this week, with the homes part of a 35 home display village showcasing South Australia’s leading builders.
Wahlstedt Quality Homes is the first display builder on site, and is currently constructing two homes that will feature in the new display village.
Wahlstedt Homes will be available for a photo opportunity pouring the slab tomorrow (Tuesday, 1 September) on site at Blakes Crossing at 3pm.
The display village, which is scheduled for completion in mid 2010, will feature homes by Gasparin Homes, Henley Homes, Dechellis Homes, Format Homes, Sterling Homes, Gallery Homes, Hamra Homes, Homestead Homes, Dado Homes, Gotta Getta Group, Adelaide Designer Homes, Aspire Homes, Hickinbotham Homes, McCracken Homes, Weeks Peacock Homes, GJ Gardiner and Sarah Longridge as well as Wahlstedt
Blakes Crossing Project Director Troy Jamieson said the display village would make it easier for home buyers to visualise their new home on a Blakes Crossing block.
“This is an exciting time for Blakes Crossing, because we’re going to see a whole new side to the community as the first homes and display village starts to take shape. It’s so rewarding coming to work every day and seeing the community develop so quickly,” he said.
“Our homebuyers have predominately been people from the local area, with the majority living within a five kilometre radius of Blakes Crossing. In particular, we’ve had a strong response from young couples and families looking to build their dream home.
“From our point of view, our work has only just begun. Over the next few months, our focus will be to commence delivering key community infrastructure at Blakes Crossing, including parklands, retail, education and community facilities. Construction of the first home by a homebuyer at Blakes Crossing is expected to begin very soon as well”.

Since its public launch in April 2009, Blakes Crossing has sold over 130 blocks ranging in size from 267sqm to 592sqm, with prices ranging between $117,000 and $191,000.
Blakes Crossing is located 31km from the Adelaide CBD on the corner of Main North Road and Craigmore Road, Blakeview. It will be home to up to 4,000 residents in 1,500 homes.
