Blakes Crossing unveils Adelaide’s newest park
Blakes Crossing has unveiled the first stage of its $10 million parks and open space program with the opening of the community’s first major park, Hayfield Park.
Situated on Hayfield Avenue (off of Craigmore Road), Adelaide’s newest 5,000m2 hectare park features BBQ facilities and a kick-about play space, with a playground and picnic shelter to be installed in January 2010.
Like all parks and open spaces planned for Blakes Crossing, Hayfield Park boasts local native and drought resistant plans to conserve water and reduce the energy consumption required during maintenance.
Blakes Crossing Project Director Troy Jamieson said Hayfield Park was another addition to the vast green space that would weave its way through the new community.
“Hayfield Park is a real people’s park, with space to kick a footy, have a barbeque with friends or simply find a shady spot to read a book,” Mr Jamieson said.
“We have an expansive landscaping plan for Blakes Crossing, including the creation of a linear park, stretching from Bentley Road in the east to Main North Road in the west. It’s great to see another part of our green space plan complete and ready for the community to take advantage of.”
