Mawson Lakes unveils final stage
After 13 years and the sale of more than 3,500 individual blocks of land, Adelaide’s award-winning Mawson Lakes community will next Saturday (16 January) unveil its final stage.

Stage 18 in the heart of The Cascades village, located in the north-west of the Mawson Lakes community, close to local transport and The Promenade town centre’s retail shopping and restaurants.

The final stage features an initial release of 8 blocks, including some fronting the village’s tranquil lake and central nature reserve. Block sizes range from 128sqm to 400sqm and are priced from $165,000 (Lot 129).

The land release will be celebrated with a barbecue breakfast in The Cascades central lake reserve at 10am with face painting for the kids.

Mawson Lakes Project Director Vince Rigter said the popularity of The Cascades had accelerated the release of the community’s final stage.

“The Cascades is a fantastic location for families, as well as singles and couples looking for lakeside living with an inner-city edge. With lush pockets of open space and nearby schools, transport and retail facilities, it is a real family-friendly environment,” he said.

“The village has character and charm, and strikes a balance between open space and an inner-city vibe.”

Mr Rigter said he expected the final stage will particularly appeal to second and third homebuyers, with this market becoming more active in recent months.

While this is the last planned stage for release, there are land and house and land packages available in The Bridges and Mawson Central which will see land sales continue throughout the first half of 2010.

“Mawson Lakes is currently home to more than 8,500 residents. As we enter the final stage in the development of the community, we expect it will eventually house approximately 10,000 people in 4,000 homes with 7,500 workers and 7,000 students,” he said.

“During the past 13 years, Mawson Lakes has won numerous state and national awards for setting a new benchmark in the development of masterplanned communities. On one hand, the release of the final stage marks the end of an era for us, however we also know that it marks the next stage in the life of Mawson Lakes and its many happy residents.”

Mawson Lakes is being developed by Delfin Lend Lease and The Land Management Corporation. Delfin Lend Lease is Australia’s leading developer of masterplanned communities with 25 projects in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and the Northern Territory.
