Lend Lease receives DA approval on first development precinct at Yarrabilba
Lend Lease has received approval on 11 April, 2011 for its first stage development application from the Urban Land Development Authority (ULDA).

The development application was submitted under the ULDA`s Interim Land Use Plan for the Yarrabilba Urban Development Area. It covers the designated “Early Release Area” while the ULDA continues to prepare the Development Scheme for the entire site targeted for gazettal later this year.

The approved development application covers more than 90 hectares and includes approximately 500 residential lots, along with initial sites for retail, community, education, parkland and recreation facilities and land dedicated to employment-generating uses.

The first Yarrabilba precinct is located in the north-west part of the site, adjacent to the intersection of Waterford Tamborine Road and Camp Cable Road, Yarrabilba.

Lend Lease Project Director Rob Moore said that the project remained on track to commence this year following the approval of the first development application.

“Monday’s development application approval is a significant milestone for Yarrabilba and will allow the project to contribute to the region’s land supply sooner,” Mr Moore said.

“This approval follows closely after the formal release of the Proposed Development Scheme over the whole site by the ULDA on 1 April, 2011 – another significant milestone for Yarrabilba. The proposed scheme is open for public comment until 20 May, 2011.

“We are continuing to work with the ULDA in collaboration with Logan City Council to finalise the Development Scheme for the entire project by October 2011.

“The first precinct of Yarrabilba not only includes two residential villages, but dedicated areas for a village centre with convenience retail, open space and parklands, community facilities such as child care, the site for the community’s first primary school, and land dedicated to employment-generating businesses.”

The Yarrabilba community will be one of the state’s first “model cities” facilitated by the ULDA and will eventually cover 2,012 hectares and have an expected population of up to 50,000 people. Lend Lease is committed to creating a largely self-sufficient community at Yarrabilba that will deliver innovative solutions and establish new sustainability benchmarks in environmental, social and economic terms for major urban development.
