New private college at Ropes Crossing
Independent Colleges Australia Ltd (ICA) has purchased a site in the heart of the Ropes Crossing community.

The K-to-10 private school is expected to cater to around 650 students once completed. It is expected to open from Kindergarten to Year 8 students in 2009, and will extend to Year 10 in subsequent years. ICA also has plans to provide senior secondary education (year 11 and 12) on a nearby site from 2012.

Ropes Crossing Project Director Natalie Jones said construction of the new ICA Penrith College was due to begin in March 2008.

“The Ropes Crossing community is growing every day and providing access to primary and secondary education early in a community is a core value of Delfin Lend Lease communities. Upon completion, Ropes Crossing will be home to up to 5,000 residents, so it’s important we provide local families with high-quality education facilities from the start,” she said.

“The construction of ICA Penrith College demonstrates our ongoing commitment to deliver essential social infrastructure early in the development of Ropes Crossing.”

Situated on the corner of Hollows Parade and Beston Drive, the new ICA Penrith College will form part of the planned Ropes Crossing Village Centre, which will feature shopping, recreation and community facilities.

ICA spokesperson Tom Mould said ICA was currently finalising its submission to the NSW Board of Studies.

“Great schools are about great relationships with children and families. ICA is excited that it has the opportunity to provide an independent school choice for families from Ropes Crossing and beyond,” he said.

“We are looking forward to our first community meetings in 2008 where parents and children will be able to learn all about the new college. Details of these meetings will be available at http://www.icacolleges.com.au.”

Ropes Crossing encompasses the entire Eastern Precinct of the St Marys site, an area which covers 132ha and is expected to contain about 1,800 homes. Ropes Crossing is bordered by a 900ha Regional Park and will include 16 parks and playgrounds connected by 25 kilometres of walking and cycling paths. Delfin Lend Lease is Australia’s leading developer of masterplanned communities with 18 trading projects across the country.
