Australia’s leading developer of masterplanned communities Delfin Lend Lease was recently awarded two top national property industry awards by the Urban Development Institute of Australia. |
Delfin Lend Lease last night won the Best Masterplanned Development Award for the Mawson Central mixed-used precinct within Mawson Lakes in Adelaide. In addition, Delfin Lend Lease also won the National Affordable Housing Award for its Studio 51 Terrace home.
Mawson Lakes, which is being developed by Delfin Lend Lease and Land Management Corporation, has won the best Masterplanned Development crown twice in five years, recognising its ongoing evolution and growth.
Delfin Lend Lease has dominated the national accolades, previously winning eight awards including, the Best Masterplanned Community award for Forest Lake (Queensland) in 1999, North Lakes (Queensland) in 2002, Golden Grove (South Australia) in 2003, Mawson Lakes (South Australia) in 2004, and Caroline Springs (Victoria) in 2006.
Delfin’s other UDIA national awards include the 2001 Environmental Excellence Award for Twin Waters , the 2001 President’s Award for the Newington and Sydney Olympic Village and the 2007 President’s Award for Varsity Lakes (Queensland).
Delfin Lend Lease Chief Executive Officer David Keir said securing the national awards was an outstanding effort and reinforced Delfin’s position as the nation’s leading developer of masterplanned communities.
He said the latest award wins were a testament to the company’s track record of creating real sustainable communities where people want to live, work and enjoy life.
“Since the community’s inception, Mawson Lakes has twice been recognised as one of Australia’s best practice examples of masterplanned communities,” he said.
“The community clearly demonstrates our holistic approach to creating award-winning masterplanned communities with innovative housing and a range of education, retail, recreation and business services and facilities.
Mr Keir said Mawson Lakes continued to set new standards for urban communities across the country.
“As the community continues to evolve, Mawson Lakes has emerged as the gateway to Adelaide’s northern suburbs,” he said.
“Mawson Lakes’ Studio 51 is an innovative home which has proven extremely popular with first home-buyers and young couples because it provides contemporary and convenient living at a reasonable price tag.
“At the same time, Mawson Central has developed into a leading hub for shopping, entertainment and business in northern Adelaide. It features retail shopping, alfresco dining, medical centre, childcare and a range of other services.
“In fact, over 80 businesses have opened here in Mawson Central since its launch in 2003. The next phase of development at Mawson Central will only enhance this position as new businesses, services and tenants move in.”
